Can't stand these kinda people.

Just the other day i was on the bus to school when 2 people came up onto the upper deck and sat beside me. Initially i was unsure of their gender but as they started to talk,i could make out that one was a guy and the other a lady. I was listening to my MP3 as usual so i took no notice of their conversation but somehow,i realised that the lady's voice seemed to drown out the music that was coming out of my earphones. Subconsciously i started listening or if you wanna put it, eavesdropping on their conversation because i could no longer concentrate on my music especially when their voices were so much louder than the artists of the tracks.
I could somehow make out their conversation as revolving around the differences in lifestyle between that in Singapore and that of Australia and the UK. You see, apparently, the lady had either studied in Australia before or had a holiday there because she was bragging about how she found Singapore's lifestyle to be so hectic. She then went on to compare it to the likes of Melbourne, Perth and Sydney.. bragging about how life there was much slower paced and relaxing. The guy just kept agreeing with her throughout and even offered his own UK version of the story. One part which really irked me was the fact that the lady went on to say about how it was sad that in Singapore, we looked down upon rubbish collectors and shunned the profession while in Australia, they treated garbage collectors equally because to them,it was a service to the community. That really struck a raw nerve in me because i totally disagreed with her statement especially when as a Singaporean,i felt that we do not discriminate against garbish collectors but instead, we seem to distance ourselves from them only because we feel that it is filthy and hard labour. I do not see the need to look down upon them as afterall,it is a profession that not everyone can undertake. On top of that, it seems to me that she has ommitted the fact that Australia's population is more homogeneous as compared to the multi racial society that we have here in Singapore. This means that no matter what, somehow, some fraction of their garbage collectors will have to be the white man himself while in Singapore, garbage collectors tend to be the Indian nationals as most of us will avoid getting our hands dirty at all costs. However, bear in mind that the garbage collectors in Singapore are not restricted only to the Indians as nowadays we see many middle aged as well as elderly Chinese and Malay folks clearing rubbish and even sifting through them to pick out whatever is useful. I disliked the fact that all through the entire time, the lady kept saying that it was very sad that Singapore was in this state because somehow i do not see things eye to eye. She then went on to brag about how having too much stress is no good but having a little is productive and also how she could not stay at home and live without working. After listening to all the crap she had to say, i was waiting to see where she alighted and guess what, she alighted at the Macritchie area, a place wiith lots of private housing. I even got a glimpse of her, sporting an all black outfit and even wearing a pair of black shades aboard the bus. So my conclusion is simple, that she is quite well off, probably even a "tai tai". That left me pondering, if Singapore really is such a sad place to live in and has so much to learn from Australia, why then would she be staying in this country, depending on it for her peace and prosperity? And if Singaporeans really do look down on garbage collectors, why then isn't she a garbage collector herself so that she could further prove her point? The simple fact about the area she lives in just contradicts her statement. If this country is such a disappointment, then go elsewhere, we don't need a 2 headed snake living amongst us. Instead of shooting our mouths off like her,i am sure that there are other more pressing issues that we should draw our attention to.
