16/11/06--Shagged out but it was fun
Today is the third and final day of my 3 day attachment at the zoo to the animal presentations department. Well, actually,it was a form of on job training. I was being trained to be a token feeder -- someone who would give a live commentary about the animals while the zoo keepers went about feeding them. So the past 3 days basically was about me following one of the more seasoned token feeders around the zoo,to the various exhibits so as to listed to them present and get a feel of how the job is like. Other than that,i had the oppurtunity to go behind the scenes and even had the chance to help prepare the food for some birds, wahaha.During this period of time,i got to know my fellow token feeders as well as some of the keepers and other staff over at the zoo. It was pretty tiring especially when the whole schedule for the day was very tight and i had to make my way from exhibit to exhibit entirely by foot. Time was also of the essence as punctuality was important and we had to make sure that no matter what,we would get to the exhibits in time to start the commentary. And that is not all. As a token presenter,we are required to memorise scripts for our commentary and the actual figures i have yet to count. And within just 3 days,i have almost memorised 2 of which one i have presented to the manager of the department to listen. Haha,in the end,he commented that i knew my facts alright but the only problem was that i was a little too nervous but with ample practice,i would be able to overcome it. So with that,I concluded my 3 days attachment to the zoo which i felt was really enriching as i had managed to learn alot of new things. As for now,i can only await the outcome of the attachment and anticipate when they would call me back once again.
