The full picture :
Tracy Turnblad, a big girl with big hair and an even bigger heart, has only one passion--dancing. Her dream is to appear on "The Corny Collins Show," Baltimore's hippest dance party on TV. Tracy seems a natural fit for the show except for one not-so-little problem--she doesn't fit in. Her plus-sized figure has always set her apart from the cool crowd, which she is reminded of by her loving but overly protective plus-sized mother, Edna. That doesn't stop Tracy because if there is one thing that this girl knows, it's that she was born to dance. After wowing Corny Collins at her high school dance, Tracy wins a spot on his show and becomes an instant on-air sensation, much to the chagrin of the show's reigning princess, Amber Von Tussle, and her scheming mother, Velma, who runs television station WYZT. Even worse for Amber is the fact that it's not just the audience who loves the new girl in town; Amber's sweetheart, Link Larkin, seems to be smitten with Tracy's charms as well. This dance party gets personal as a bitter feud erupts between the girls as they compete for the coveted "Miss Teenage Hairspray" crown. At school, however, a short stint in detention and raised-eyebrows caused by the budding relationship between her best friend Penny Pingleton and Seaweed opens Tracy's eyes to a bigger issue than the latest dance craze or the coolest hairdo--racial inequality. Throwing caution to the wind, she leads a march with Motormouth Maybelle to fight for integration and winds up with an arrest warrant instead. Tracy is on the lam now and goes underground--literally--to her best friend Pennys basement. Has Tracy's luck finally run out? Will she miss the final dance-off against Amber and forfeit the title of "Miss Hairspray," or will she sing and dance her way out of trouble again?

Reasons to watch the show:
1) Catch John Travolta dressing up as a fat woman for the first time in the show. According to what i had read in the "LIFE" section of the newspaper, the entire makeover for John Travolta took about 4hrs each time to complete and thereafter.he has approximately 15kg of additional "fat" placed upon him. There were also a few "intimate" scenes involving John Travolta's character and her husband which may churn stomachs.
2) There were a few humourous scenes which enhanced the viewership worthiness of the show.
3) Lastly, just sit back and enjoy the movie with it's catchy tunes and wonderful dancing which were the main aspects of the show that i enjoyed tremendously.

Reasons to not watch the show:
1) If you find high school musical boring then this show is not for you
2) If you have something against fat people then don't watch it because the main character(Nicole Blonsky) is fat and so is her mother (John Travolta).

That's what they all say

Do people around you nag at you because they have nothing else better in the world to do or is it simply because they care a whole lot about you? Well,i admit that at times while being nagged at,i do feel that it was the former reason however after the dust has settled and when i look back upon all that has taken place around me, i soon realise that what motivated those "Naggy people" to nag at me was simply the word LOVE. I mean if they hadn't cared about me,they would not even have bothered wasting their breath on me trying to repeat their instructions time after time again in a desperate bid to drive the message into the back of my head. Theres so many other things in this world that requires their attention but instead of focusing their energy there, they'd rather waste it on me - someone who refuses to listen and who would only acknowledge their constant pleas with the words "ha-nah!". I'm not sure if this strikes a chord with you but sadly,it is the mindset that is prevalent in alot of people nowadays and i am not ashamed to admit that i happen to be one of them. Yes i've had my fair share of shrugging others off my back when they try to tell me something or cutting them off deliberately when they are in the midst of giving me advice. These are actions that i truly regret but find hard to change as somehow, they have been incorporated into my character. Whatever it is,i still feel that we should learn to appreciate when others are trying desperately to tell us something, even if it ended up turning into a nagging session..afterall,we will never know for how long more will we get to enjoy such treatment and the bottomline is that everything is all done out of LOVE,CARE and CONCERN.

Is it really necessary?

Sometimes,i really wonder,is it really necessary for a person to fall before he/she can learn a lesson in life? The conclusion that i have for myself is that i do not see such a need at all. I strongly feel that simply going by other people's account on certain situations is already informative enough for me,more so if they are negative in nature..there simply is no need for me to go all out to try them for myself before i can conclude if something is truly good or bad, beneficial or harmful. If it was really necessary that we try out everything in life just to get a feel of it,then why the chinese saying "bu ting lao ren yan,chi kui zai yan qian(ignore the advice of the elders and you will regret it)" ? Seemingly this sentence is telling us that the advice of the elders.going by experience is something that we should seriously take heed of. Why then can't we just go by what others say?? Some may argue that you need to feel and experience something for yourself before you can truly draw a conclusion..well,i say that it is true to a certain extend but we always have to bear in mind that there are times when after obtaining the experience we want,it is already too late for regrets. So in summary,i feel that all these is a matter of choice but if i were to say something about it,then better to try out the good things than the bad as ultimately,in the worst case scenario, something supposedly good will only turn out to be not as good as it seems while something supposedly bad may just end up being your WORST NIGHTMARE.
